Job Summary
The Controls Engineer Intern will support the automation and controls engineering team in developing, testing, and maintaining control systems for advanced manufacturing equipment. This role provides hands-on experience with PLC programming, automation systems, electrical design, and machine commissioning in a manufacturing environment. It is ideal for senior students or recent graduates pursuing an engineering-related degree.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and troubleshooting of automated control systems
- Support PLC, HMI, and motion control programming activities
- Help with electrical schematic updates and control panel documentation
- Participate in machine startup, testing, debugging, and commissioning activities
- Assist in collecting and analyzing equipment and process data
- Support troubleshooting of production equipment and automation systems
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Process, and Manufacturing Engineering teams on project tasks
- Help maintain engineering documentation, operating procedures, and technical reports
- Participate in continuous improvement and automation upgrade projects
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Software Engineering, or related field
- Basic understanding of PLCs, sensors, motors, HMIs, or industrial automation systems
- Familiarity with electrical schematics and control concepts preferred
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn in a hands-on manufacturing environment
- Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills required
